[0917] Capability Development - Systems Engineer x 2

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Information Assurance, these positions will be accountable for high assurance engineering support to internal stakeholders and engineering and technical support to the New Zealand cryptographic programme.

The positions are based in the area that works on national critical infrastructure protection and government computer network defence operations.

We are seeking applicants with the following characteristics:

  • Software engineering skills and expertise (practical knowledge of software engineering methodologies, testing techniques, and development environments and tools).
  • Programming languages - preferable: Java, C/C++, Python etc.
  • Tertiary degree and aptitude in computer science, mathematics, engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of cryptography and its implementation (or an aptitude in computer science/mathematics).
  • Intermediate Windows and PC knowledge and practical ability.
  • Computer networking ability.
  • Computer/network security knowledge.
  • An ability to attend to project issues and troubleshoot technical problems.

You will be part of a highly skilled and motivated team working in a modern development environment, and ultimately have a key role in protecting the security of all New Zealanders.
