Technical Intelligence Analysts

Are you looking for a new job in 2014? Interested in technology, Big Data and complex problems?

The Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) is looking for Technical Intelligence Analysts.

Our Technical Intelligence Analysts develop expert knowledge of current and emerging telecommunications and internet technologies. Using this knowledge, they conduct analysis and research that enables intelligence-gathering, therefore are integral to our teams success. They are regularly called upon to extend their expertise into unfamiliar, and technically complex areas, and to apply analytic expertise to the development of new tools or techniques for this analysis.

If you can tick yes to more than one of the following you may be exactly what our team needs:

  • A tertiary qualification with an analytical or technical focus (e.g. computer science, network engineering or telecommunications)
  • Previous experience in the telecommunications sector or previous technical intelligence experience or similar
  • Working knowledge of routing protocols
  • Detailed understanding of common internet technologies
  • Experience in at least one common programming language

Members of our team have an active intelligence, analytical mind-set and technical aptitude. They come from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, so whether you are just finishing your degree or have some related experience we are keen to hear from you.

Successful candidates must be New Zealand citizens and will be required to undergo vetting for a Top Secret security clearance, so utmost integrity and trustworthiness is required.

Policy Analyst

The Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) is looking for a talented policy analyst to join our policy and compliance team.

The GCSB is central to the New Zealand Intelligence Community. Our focus is on protecting New Zealanders and advancing New Zealand’s interests.

You will be expected to draft material on a wide range of public sector, operational and administrative matters in this unique, challenging and rewarding environment.

You will also get to contribute to an organisational change programme that the Bureau has embarked on.
